ANYWHERE U.S.A. - Jeremy Dylan Lanni (2017)

A thought provoking movie that is only 6 minutes and 48 seconds long has no commercial potential, so why the Hell would anybody bother spending all their time and money making one?
Welcome to The Dungeon!!

Depending on how old you are, you might remember a time when people wrote songs that had forethought and meaning like Dylan's "The Times Are A Changing," or Buffalo Springfield's "For What It's Worth," or anything by Phil Ochs or Pete Seeger! That's kind of how I feel about "Anywhere U.S.A."

It's just a diner that could be anywhere in the U.S.A., or as our good friend Lord Litter said after viewing the movie, in Germany, or really almost anywhere in the world!
There's an absolutely amazing cast that includes this fun-loving adorable young couple that work in the diner, and there's a handful of customers! That's it, but how will they interact in 6 minutes and 48 seconds?

Keith (Wake Up America!) Stevenson is one of the more hostile customers and his companion is....

...Kendrah (Like A Butterfly) McKay, who has a personality that stings like a bee!

The great Peter (Conjuring Orson) Jason is the typical grumpy old fart! I say typical, because I've met lots of guys like this is my life, in fact, I've been accused of being one myself!

Jo D. (John of God the Movie) Jonz is a soldier just trying to enjoy his meal!

This is Kevin (The Amazing Spider-Man) McCorkle as the uptight used car salesman......

.....And Calum (American Horror Story) Dench as his ice cream eating grandson!

Juliette (Gotham) Beavan and Cela (Best Fake Friends) Scott are the blondies in the booth!

Actor and voice over artiste supreme, Stuart (Congo) Pankin works in the kitchen!

Jared (Vineland) Wernick is one half of the innocent couple, and....

........Alex (Christmas in the Heartland) Preble is the other half! They both manage to cause problems without even trying!
So that's the cast, you just need to go watch it, because I'm not going to tell you what happens! A lot goes on in a short period of time, and I will say that I was shocked by the ending!
Jeremy Dylan Lanni is a gifted film maker with something to say, and he has given you a nice X-mas gift absolutely free! All you have to do is go watch it, and you can do that right HERE!!

This surrealistic 1969 Buck Owens' album and Jeremy's movie with the same title might not seem like they have much in common, but they are both short and to the point! The longest song on this LP is "Keep On Your Keepin' On" at 2:40, and "Georgia Peach" is only 1:17 minutes long, just the way I like it! I was thinking about it the other day, a TV series that runs for a couple of seasons is like a 20 hour movie, I'll take 6:48 minutes of quality over 20 hours of crap any time! Thanx Jeremy!

The TOHO FIFTIES HORROR And SCI-FI MOVIES

Welp, heute wir haben eine look at the Toho fifties horror and sci-fi movies, as the title suggests. Man, what a pile of terror we have here, tons of fun for us kids. I never saw any of these at the theater, but, they were shown on TV starting in the late fifties... All the posters are the original Japanese releases.

We start with GODZILLA, KING OF THE MONSTERS from 1954! This movie is brutal, no comedy here. The part that really got me was the doctor and his oxygen destroyer and how he became a victim of his own device!!

There is also a flick called THE INVISIBLE MAN from 1954 but it's actually a drama with clowns, so, I did not included that one.

Then, we have GODZILLA RAIDS AGAIN from 1955. In this one Godzilla awakes from his slumber after being packed in ice on an island and has to fight another giant monster, the mighty Ankylosaur that appears again in other Godzilla movies.

Also in 1955, Toho releases HALF HUMAN, a story about abominable snowmen on an island that are targeted for circus attractions! Unfortunately, the son of the monster is killed and things go south for the effing humans!

RODAN, one of my avatars, hit the big screen in 1956, what a wild flick! To me, one of the most shocking parts were those prehistoric insects and the creepy noises they made. Rodan and his egg laying mate were giant mutant Pterosaurs from inside a volcano!

Wow, THE MYSTERIANS form 1957 was amazing, all kinds of awesome futuristic hardware was used on both sides of the battle! Eegah!! and I saw this one on TV for the first time in 1960 when we were vacationing at my relatives house in the Valley Of The Moon in Northern California. Just love that giant robot to death!!

Talk about creepy, well, THE H-MAN from 1958 totally creeped me out the first time I saw it. When those poor sailors board the ghost ship and discover H-Men that dissolve humans into a mass of glowing atomic goo, like, yikes!!

VARAN THE UNBELIEVABLE also came out in 1958, back to black and white. Varan had the most spikes of any other giant monster at the time. Damn, I'd hate to have to ride him anywhere!! Stars good old Myron (THE UNEARTHLY) Healey.

Last on the list is BATTLE IN OUTER SPACE from 1959. Here, Japanese spacemen fight off invaders from space and end up on the Moon where they encounter a bunch of mini creatures!! So, there you go, the fifties Toho monster movies, join us agin on Wednesday for another neato installment from, The Dungeon!

ENTER THE DRAGON - Bruce Lee (1973)

Tonight's Saturday Night Special is Bruce Lee's last movie...made in 1973.....
"ENTER THE DRAGON!"

I'm sure that "Enter The Dragon" has been covered over the years by people far more literate than me, but.........I've thought about it long and hard, who cares? This is just my take!

Very arty KIAI!!!

The only thing I can tell you about Bruce Lee that is an original thought is that the one person I know that ever had any contact with him, and was a very intense person himself, said that "when he first saw Bruce Lee in person, he was scared to even make eye contact with him!"

I don't know if John (Blood Beast From Outer Space, Queen Of Blood) Saxon ever had any real martial arts training, but he is fairly credible in this role! John is still going strong today, just turned 82 a couple of months ago, and has one movie in pre-production, and one in post-production!

Born in Paris, Kentucky, Jim (Black Samurai) Kelly was the real International Middle Weight Karate Champion in 1971, so like Bruce Lee, he brought some legitimate skill to the dance! Paris, Kentucky can't help but remind me of the Bo Diddley song, about Hong Kong, Mississippi! "You don't sound like where you come from!" Don't believe me, then check it out for yourself!
While I was investigating that subject, I stumbled upon a video of a guy explaining how the Bo Diddley beat worked, and a modern example was a song by KT Tunstall called "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" that I was totally unfamiliar with, but I thought was pretty hot!

Bolo Yeung might be only five foot seven inches tall, but he was in good enough shape to be Mr Hong Kong Bodybuilding Champion for 10 years in a row! Looking tougher than Hell, Bolo was actually a student and good friend of Bruce Lee! Also known as "The Beast From The East," Bolo is still kickin' today!

As tough as he was, Bruce Lee seemed to like making funny faces!

I like this shot! I think it's the juxtaposition of the olde and the new!

Lookin' a lot like some kind of board game, the evil emperor has his own island, and his own army of martial arts experts!

And here he is! "Welcome to my island!"
Kien Shih was only in 247 features over the course of fifty freakin' years!!

You really need to see the movie to appreciate the weirdness of this party scene! Tons of bird cages suspended from the ceiling, roaming acrobats, and center stage two guys grappling!

There's a hip soundtrack with music composed by Lalo Schifrin!
Here's 29 seconds to whet your appetite!

This is one of the funniest screencaps ever! It really looks like Jerry Kelly is giving a cartoon fisted hand salute!

On the other hand, homeboy wannabe ruler of the world has an arm with a socket in it that accepts various diabolical hand variations!

There gets to a point where even Bruce admits that the thrill is gone!

It must pay to be an asshole in the movies, because Kien Shih lived to be 96 years old!

The taste of his own blood makes Bruce tougher than tough, and rougher than rough!

Two of my favourite consecutive shots ever!
This is exactly what needs to happen to a whole bunch of people from all walks of life in modern society!!

We were about a third of the way through a full-length film we were making called "Voodoo Club" when it all went up in smoke! It was really pretty amazing, because out of nowhere, the whole project just collapsed in one day, and the final straw was.........

......The day almost none of the cast showed up, and the free location was in a roomful of mirrors in a gym! If you've only got one camera and no money, a roomful of mirrors is a real nightmare!
"Voodoo Club" R.I.P.

GREAT LOOKING 1930'S HORROR LOBBY CARDS

It's Friday, so, must be time for some very attractive and valuable lobby cards from the 1930's, a fun time for horror movies back when...

THE CAT CREEPS from Universal Pictures did a lot of movies involving cats, black cats were always popular because of the stigma people had with superstition back then! People today are pretty much beyond all that crap, I mean like, what the Hell does it have to do with endlessly typing on a tiny little bitch keyboard, expressing your super important opinions?!!

Love this card for THE CAT AND THE CANARY. Bob Hope and Paulette Goddard star in the horror comedy from Paramount Studios, I can't say the I've seen this one... I'm sure it's a hoot though!

Warner Bros. produced DOCTOR X, one super wild flick in freakin' color, man, it kicks ass!! This poster is a different kind of style than most, almost looks clinical.

Bela uses his big ape to exact revenge and cause mayhem in MURDERS IN THE RUE MORGUE from Universal. His mad lab also serves as a creepy dungeon!

Wow, nice card for Universal's DRACULA'S DAUGHTER. That green skin is spooky, but, this is a pretty tame movie, not a favorite, too much drama!

Karloff The Uncanny stars as THE MUMMY, the first in a string of mummy movies from Universal. This poster is pretty interesting, especially the green mummy and reclining scantily clad beauty at the bottom!

Boris is back in THE MAN THEY COULD NOT HANG from Columbia Pictures, I remember seeing this one back in the fifties on TV, but alas, it was very... BORING!! Great poster though!

Universal's WEREWOLF OF LONDON is a really weird movie, and, entertaining as Hell... What a great lobby card, man, you get an eye full of horror!

Love this WHITE ZOMBIE card from United Artists, the colors and composition make for an eloquent collectible, Bela stars as a zombie master in Haiti... What I learned from this post is that I wish I had a ton of $$$ to invest in some of these beautiful posters! Well, we're back tomorrow with another installment from The Dungeon!!
